Genelle Coghlan’s discovery of Metis PCA™ fibre’s non-flammable properties led to the first product, a Personal Protection Bushfire Blanket for Australian emergency services such as NSW Police, NSW Fire & Rescue, NSW Rural Fire Service, and many more across the nation. As she continued to experiment with creating new products with the material such as fire-resistant clothing, she discovered the fibre’s innate antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Subsequent laboratory tests validated these properties and cemented Metis PCA™ as a pioneering material in the technical textile industry.

Antimicrobial and antifungal

Metis PCA™ is naturally resistant to bacteria and fungi. Independent laboratory tests have demonstrated that the fibre is resistant to fungal growth for 28 days and has a 99% reduction rate in bacteria after 24 hours. This is invaluable in preventing foot infections and odour, particularly for those leading an active lifestyle or with specific medical conditions such as athlete’s foot.
