Currently the socks only come in black. We are planning to introduce another colour, but at the moment cannot give an accurate estimate of when they will be available.

The socks have been designed in Australia and are being made in China.

Akeso Socks are a made from a Metis PCA™ fibre and Nylon knit so they are lightweight and comfortable whilst being hypoallergenic and wicking. They are also thermo-regulating, providing warmth when its cold and a cooling effect through wicking when it’s hot.

Akeso Socks are made with Metis PCA™ fibre which is inherently antimicrobial and antifungal. These properties eliminate foot odour and help treat common skin conditions caused by bacteria and fungi.

As your feet sweat, bacteria (single cell microbes) breaks down the moisture and creates a smell. The purpose of sweat is to regulate your body temperature, and your feet have more sweat glands than any other part of your body.

Common causes of foot odour include: wearing the same shoes every day, poor personal hygiene; stress; hormonal changes and hyperhidrosis, which causes you to sweat more than usual.

This is currently due to the manufacturing process and is perfectly normal.

To help reduce this residual fibre, it helps to put them through a wash cycle inside out. Once washed the excess fibre will be all gone and ready to be put straight back on your feet.

We are currently looking at ways to reduce this residual fibre in future iterations of our products.

Microscopic fungus that lives on toenails, dead skin tissue, hair and outer layers of skin is responsible for common skin infections on feet like Athlete’s foot. It is contagious and can spread via public changing rooms like the gym, rest rooms and pools.

Common symptoms include itchiness, redness, peeling, cracking, scaling, burning and/or blisters on the skin on your feet.

While designing and trialling socks for the fire brigade market, Genelle Coghlan, Managing Director of specialist textile manufacturer Colan Australia, noticed a fungal infection cleared-up on her foot.

Genelle was wearing socks that contained Metis PCA™ fibre, which she knew had non-flammable properties, but was unaware of its full potential.

After weeks of wearing the socks, without washing them, Genelle’s feet felt better and didn’t smell. When she stopped wearing the socks, the fungal infection returned.

Genelle was so surprised, she tested the socks at an independent laboratory, where it was confirmed the Metis PCA™ fibre had unique, inherent properties of being anti-fungal, antimicrobial and non-flammable.

Metis PCA™ fibre was first developed in the UK in the 70s and forgotten. After 30 years of laying dormant, Genelle Coghlan re-discovered the fibre and its ability to treat foot odour and skin disorders.

From this discovery the Akeso Sock range was born. The world’s first sock to combine comfort with antifungal, antimicrobial and non-flammable properties.

Akeso Socks don’t smell because they kill the microbes and fungi that create foot odour and wick moisture away from the skin on your feet. So you don’t need to wash them to get rid of the smell, just air them overnight.

If you get dirt on the socks, you can wash them on a standard washing cycle and air dry them.

To keep them fresh day-to-day, all you need to do is hang them out to air out overnight.

You don’t have to wash your Akeso’s, just air them overnight. However if you do need to:

• Please machine wash in warm or cold water.
• Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
• Tumble or air dry.

Within Australia, delivery costs start at $9.35 for a package of up to 3 pairs of socks.  Delivery costs are determined by the number of socks ordered.  Generally as the number of socks ordered increases the delivery cost per sock decreases.  The delivery cost can be calculated in the CART prior to checkout.  All shipments are sent via Australia Post parcel delivery.  You should receive your socks within 2-4 days of placing an order.

International shipping varies according to your location and is calculated at checkout.

There are many variables involved in answering this question. Things like the wearer’s weight, tread pattern, and frequency of use, can all affect the life and performance of the sock. The active fibre (Metis PCA™) wears down over time.

Our trials have shown that the sock’s effectiveness will last approximately 2-3 months with continuous daily use on the average wearer.

The Colan PAM™ 2 Layer Knitted Face Mask currently comes in one size fits all. The Colan PAM™ 3 Layer Knitted Face Mask, and Colan PAM™ Woven Face Mask comes in 2 sizes, regular and large. For added comfort the Colan PAM™ Woven Face Mask comes with an adjustable drawstring to fit snug to your face.

The knitted material does give and stretch a bit with time. We have found it similar to a new pair of jeans or shoes in that it gets more comfortable with time as your wear it in and make your own adjustments. We have also found that if you wear it with the seam at the top, it sits better on the bridge of your nose.

If you are not used to wearing a mask, it can feel unnatural to have something on your face and tempting to touch and adjust it (especially if you are talking a lot). It is best to avoid touching your face and mask as much as possible.

As the fabric is inherently anti-viral and anti-bacterial, it does not need to be washed unless it becomes dirty. If required, hand wash in cold or warm water using standard laundry detergent (do not use bleach) and lay flat to dry. When not in use, we recommend keeping the mask in a clean plastic bag and if possible wait for 3 hours before wearing it again.

Akeso cannot guarantee 100% protection against viral infections. Good hygiene and Covid-19 safety measures are still required, including washing your hands regularly and social distancing to 1.5 metres.
